How the service is delivered

(Service delivered under i’ara Support Coordinators’ registration.)

This allows us to deliver Support Coordination with full compliance while remaining youth-specific and community-based. Referrals & Access

Why families choose DYS for Support Coordination

Unlike generic NDIS providers, our coordination is built around the real barriers young people face in the Territory — school disengagement, remote access, complex family dynamics and cultural context.

Here’s what makes us different:

  • Youth specialists, not general providers
Our entire service focuses on children and young people aged 7–25. We understand how supports need to look at school, home and community level, not just in paperwork.
  • Strong school and community partnerships
We already work inside Tiwi College, Maningrida, Palmerston and Darwin schools. This means we can advocate directly with teachers, wellbeing teams and families to keep kids engaged and supported.
  • Remote and culturally aware delivery
Our team works with Aboriginal communities across Melville Island and West Arnhem. We understand kinship systems, distance barriers and the reality of service gaps in remote NT settings.
  • Integrated support — not just referrals
Support Coordination is connected to our youth programs, family work and existing service networks. We don’t just “link and leave” — we stay involved so services actually follow through.
  • Delivered under a registered NDIS provider
Support is provided by Darwin Youth Services under subcontract to i’ara Support Coordinators (NDIS Reg. 4050078987), ensuring full compliance and accountability.
